Karibe Mambo, is a eight piece performing band. Although as a group we have been together since 2005, our band members are seasoned musicians who have played in some of the best musical groups. Our specialty is Caribbean music (Salsa and Merengue).
Our band projects a powerful and energetic sound. When you hear and see us perform, you will find it difficult to keep still. We are not only musicians, but also entertainers who will persuade you to tap your feet, clap your hands, and before you know it, you'll actually be moving to our rhythmic beats. The Puerto Rican born Orlando Ortiz, lead singer, states: "There's nothing more fulfilling as a performer than to watch an audience fully enjoy themselves without holding back. It is especially gratifying to observe those from various ethnic backgrounds, who may or may not fully know or understand the history of the Hispanic musical culture, enjoy our music."
Though a small band, the statement "great things come in small packages" applies. Karibe Mambo has been requested to perform at a variety of events. To fully understand the power and impact that this band has on their audience, come see them perform the first Friday night of each month (when not playing a private party) at Hillside Cafe (179 Willow Street, Waterbury, CT 06710) from 11:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m.
